FMR Atlas — HUD Voucher Market Screener
Compare HUD Fair Market Rent against local home values across all 3,144 U.S. counties. FMR Atlas puts federal rent data, Census home values and current market activity on one map, so you can see where the numbers leave room to work.
What is Fair Market Rent?
Fair Market Rent is HUD's published estimate of what a modest rental costs in a given area — set at the 40th percentile of local gross rents, updated annually and broken out by bedroom count. Housing authorities use it to set the payment standard for Housing Choice Vouchers, and the authority's monthly share is paid directly to the landlord. FMR Atlas is exactly what the name says: an atlas of it.

Where the data comes from
HUD Fair Market Rent, U.S. Census ACS median home values and population, HUD's Public Housing Authority directory, and Redfin county market data. Every figure is sourced and dated in the interface. Nothing is modelled or estimated.
